Robert Griffin III joins Team USA flag football camps

Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III has received an invitation to Team USA flag football training games as the team prepares for the International Federation of American Football world championships. The one-time Pro Bowler, who played eight seasons with the Washington Redskins, Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens, aims to represent the United States at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where flag football will debut. Training camps are scheduled for April 16-19 and May 21-24.

Griffin, now an ESPN college football and NFL analyst, told TMZ Sports that making the Olympic roster is his goal. Team USA has remained undefeated since quarterback Darrell Doucette III joined and holds the title of five-time reigning IFAF world champions, according to Griffin. Doucette recently led the squad to wins over NFL players in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic.

After the second training camp, a selection committee will reduce the roster from 24 to 18 players for a June camp, then select the final 12 for the 2026 world championships in Germany, set for August 13-16.

Success at the championships positions players for Olympic contention, with Griffin emphasizing respect for the process and the flag football community.
