Two-time Pro Bowler Justin Simmons retires from NFL

Two-time Pro Bowl safety Justin Simmons retired from the NFL after a nine-year career that included eight seasons with the Denver Broncos. The Broncos announced the news on Wednesday, exactly 10 years after selecting Simmons in the third round out of Boston College in 2016. Simmons started 16 games for the Atlanta Falcons in his final 2024 season, recording two interceptions.

Simmons achieved his greatest success in Denver, earning each of his two Pro Bowl selections and four second-team All-Pro honors there. "Being a Denver Bronco was more than just a team," Simmons said in the Broncos' social media announcement. "It was my heart, my home and my story."

He intercepted at least two passes in each of his nine seasons, finishing with 32 career interceptions, including an NFL-leading six in 2022. Simmons started 124 of 134 career games. "I'm always going to be a Bronco, and I'm always going to be a Broncos fan. They took a chance on me, extended me. This is my home," he added.

The Falcons offered congratulations to Simmons on social media.
