Gophers QB Lindsey Arrested on Underage Drinking, Fake ID Charges

Minnesota Golden Gophers quarterback Drake Lindsey faces charges of underage possession of alcohol and fraudulent identification after an arrest early Friday in his hometown of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Authorities booked the 20-year-old shortly after 1 a.m. and released him on bond seven hours later, according to Washington County Sheriff intake records. Bar staff near the University of Arkansas campus alerted police to a possible fake ID, which Lindsey admitted using.

Lindsey has court appearances set for June 1 and June 29. The Gophers athletic department stated it is aware of the incident and will address it internally. Players remain on break following the conclusion of spring practices last weekend.

The quarterback, overlooked by his hometown Razorbacks, chose Minnesota and delivered a standout redshirt freshman season in 2025. He started all 13 games, setting a program record for freshman wins as the Gophers went 8-5. Lindsey completed 249 of 386 passes for 2,382 yards with 18 touchdowns and six interceptions.
