Acuña Returns From Hamstring Injury as Braves Defeat Marlins 8-4

Ronald Acuña Jr. doubled, walked twice and scored three runs in his first game since May 2 as the Atlanta Braves defeated the Miami Marlins 8-4 on Tuesday. Acuña batted leadoff as the designated hitter after missing time with a left hamstring strain. Mauricio Dubón delivered a go-ahead RBI single in the eighth inning to break a 4-4 tie.

Matt Olson contributed two hits, two walks and three RBIs while Michael Harris II homered and added a single for the NL East-leading Braves. Dylan Lee earned the win with 1 1/3 innings of relief. Braves starter Martin Perez struck out a career-high 10 batters in five innings.

Miami had taken a 4-2 lead after Xavier Edwards’ leadoff homer and Kyle Stowers’ two-run double in the first inning, with Esteury Ruiz adding a sacrifice fly in the third. Harris tied the game with a leadoff homer in the sixth. Garrett allowed two runs in three innings in his second start after elbow surgery.

Left-hander Chris Sale is scheduled to start for the Braves on Wednesday against Marlins right-hander Janson Junk.
